Adding Tones for already studied cards

I started out not studying tones but now want to go back and add those cards for every word I’ve already studied. As far as I can tell, there’s no way to do this besides just manually opening and “studying” every single character from every single deck over again.

In another topic, someone mentioned making a copy of a deck and then using “rejuvenate” to do this quickly, but trying that didn’t add the tone cards for me.

Is there some shortcut I’m missing?

Hmm… I haven’t tested out that particular flow, but I have gone back and added tone cards to my study routine after learning a lot of stuff on Skritter.

If you copy a deck and use the deck-level learn button, you can spam the “MARK AS LEARNED” button, which will create those extra cards. It can take a bit of time to sync and update to the server depending on the size of the deck. Also, depending on how may decks/words you have on your account–this could give you a ton of due cards and could be a bit overwhelming. Might be worth some soul searching before going too nuts.

I didn’t go this route for my entire account, but I do know that re-learning words that way adds tone cards. I tend to create a lot of custom decks over time, and add words to them without stressing too much about what’s already in Skritter. Even if I had them in other decks I was studying from before–I figured if they didn’t stick well enough for me to remember them, then I might as well add and learn them again. It was a nice way to filter for tone cards I actually wanted to focus on, rather than bulk adding everything.

If you’ve got lots of decks and lots of items, shoot team@skritter.com an email. Devs might be able to speed up the process for ya with a script.

Yeah, I’ve done the mark as learned button and that does work, it just has to be done card-by-card, and takes probably a good 20 seconds per card, since it seems to force a sync each time. Not impossible to do, but more time than I’m gonna sit down and do all at once. I only have like 700+ cards added, so not the end of the world; they’ll show up again some day, as you said (interface with Pleco when, hahaha). Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something (and I do think it’d be a good feature).

Okay, this sounds like a bug in the system… or perhaps something wonky with account and deck level settings. Can you email team@skritter.com so we can keep the conversation going and figure out what’s going on?
