Adjusting the amount of due cards

Hello! I’ve been using Skritter now for two years and I really love it.

I have a question about due cards. When I’m in my normal study groove this works perfectly for me, I get prompted for cards in a good pace and can adjust the difficulty easily by how many new cards I study per day and how much I review decks.

However, sometimes in life there are periods when studying is harder or even impossible, like if you get ill for a longer period or if you get a lot of overtime work suddenly. When this happens it’s impossible for me to keep the amount of due cards down, even if I never learn new words. Even if I go through many due cards every day, the amount is just larger the next day, until the number seems really daunting.

I understand the idea of retention and so on, but no one is perfect all the time. Also, sometimes I use less Skritter when I’m working hard on my other Chinese courses so I might be even reviewing words just not on Skritter. Is there a way to block or reduce new due cards from spawning for a fixed period? This would make it less daunting to try and get back to the study groove after some weeks away from the app.

I find having to go through hundreds and hundreds of due cards after a short pause is really de-motivational. I know it can be done as I’ve done it many times but recently I’ve noticed that repeatedly getting behind on my due cards has been making me feel less enthusiastic about using Skritter.

Thank you for any advice! <3

Thanks for reaching out! We are happy to hear that you have been enjoying Skritter, and we appreciate you taking the time to send us this detailed feedback. At the moment, there is no way to block/reduce the about of new due cards for a fixed period. I have added it to our list of requests and will share it with our developers. We consider user feedback as we are making improvements to Skritter. Please reach out to us if you ever have any other feedback or questions. Happy studies!
