How does the review system work? I decided to get rid of my thousands of reviews and was working hard this weekend to do so. And I got it to 1500 last evening, but today it shows 3000 again. Is it even possible to come down to 0?
Well, there is this thing called spaced repetition.

There are certain intervals between reviews that are quite short in the beginning and get longer if you know a character/word well or even shorter if you don’t.

If you’re back to 3000 after only one night that means that you don’t know those characters/words very well. You probably haven’t reviewed them very often yet or graded “don’t know”/red a lot.
Just hang in there, the intervals will get longer and you can certainly get the review count down to zero.
